Exclamation Where to get help

If at any time you feel that you are in danger of acting on thoughts of suicide or self-harm, you must take steps immediately to make yourself safe.

You need to do one of the following things:
  • Call a friend or family member to talk about your feelings
  • Call Lifeline - 13 11 14
  • Call the mental health crisis team for your area
  • Call or go and see your doctor, mental health professional, or go to the emergency room

Talking about suicidal thoughts and feelings on the Board can be very traumatic to others who have no way of helping and may well be on the other side of Australia.

It is important to talk about these feelings - but to someone who is trained to help.

For more information on suicide risk and where to go for help, visit Lifeline's Read the Signs website (http://www.readthesigns.com.au/) or our resource list at BluePages (http://bluepages.anu.edu.au/help_and_resources/).
